How to Use
1.Preparation
Clean the surface of the side slip tester to ensure that the
sliding plate or rail moves freely.
Install the standard slip plate or calibration block on the roller
mechanism of the tester.
Mount the dial indicator onto the edge of the platform or a
calibration stand, ensuring that the indicator tip contacts the
side of the sliding plate with appropriate preload (typically less
than 0.1 mm).
2.Calibration Steps
Zeroing the Dial: Adjust the dial indicator to zero by aligning the
tip with the calibration plate under light preload.
Slide the Plate: Slowly push the slip plate to simulate the motion
of a vehicle wheel passing over the tester (typically ±10 mm of
travel).
Record Displacement: Simultaneously record the mechanical
displacement value (in mm) shown by the dial and the slip value (in
m/km) displayed on the side slip tester system.
Convert and Compare: Convert the dial reading into a slip value
(m/km) and compare it with the system reading to calculate any
deviation.
Adjust if Necessary: If the error exceeds the allowed tolerance,
recalibrate the sensor output, software scaling factor, or control
module parameters.
Notes
The dial indicator should be verified with a certified gauge block
or by an accredited metrology agency before use (typical precision:
0.01 mm).
The calibration plate must move smoothly without jamming or
excessive friction to ensure accurate results.
Regular calibration is recommended every 6–12 months, and
calibration records should be properly documented.
A laser displacement sensor or digital comparator can also be used
for cross-verification if needed.
